Third-Party Services Policy
Last updated: 15 October 2026
Ocevalon uses a small number of outside services to run the site.
Categories
- Web hosting and data storage: stores the site, accounts, posts and files.
- Email: used to send account emails such as password resets, and to receive messages sent to our contact address.
What they receive
These providers process only the data needed to do their job, such as your email address when we send you an account email.
Optional text reader in examinations
If a student presses Read text on a scanned page, their browser downloads an open-source text reader (Tesseract.js) from the jsDelivr public content network. The reading happens inside the browser. The photo is not sent to jsDelivr or to any AI provider. jsDelivr may log the request for the download, as any content network does. The result is only a suggestion and is saved with the page so the examiner can see it next to the original.
Sign in with Google (optional)
If you choose Sign in with Google, you are sent to Google to log in and approve sharing your name and verified email address with Ocevalon. Google handles that login under its own terms and privacy policy. You can always use a username and password instead.
Google Gemini (optional, examiners only)
When enabled by the administrator, an examiner can also upload a scanned question paper and press a button so Gemini reads the questions into the exam form (the paper is sent to Google only when that button is pressed). Separately, an examiner can send one paper’s question text, typed answers and answer-page images to Google Gemini to get a suggested mark. This happens only when the examiner presses the button. Google processes the content under the terms that apply to the Gemini API. Students should not include personal information such as a phone number or home address on answer pages.
Limits
We do not control these providers. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to their services. We do not currently use payment, advertising or analytics providers. If that changes, we will update this page and the Privacy Policy.
PayPal and ExchangeRate-API
PayPal. Payments for paid plans and AI credits are processed by PayPal. You are sent to PayPal to pay, and PayPal handles your payment details under its own privacy policy.
ExchangeRate-API. To show dollar prices, our server asks ExchangeRate-API (open.er-api.com) for the current LKR to USD exchange rate. No personal data about you is sent. Rates by ExchangeRate-API.
